Around 1975, under an oppressive social atmosphere, some university students in Taiwan began composing new Chinese songs, performing them with acoustic guitars. These songs reflected their true feelings and expressed cultural attitudes, featuring the fresh style of Western folk music. Distinct from existing pop songs and popular hits, this movement sparked a wave of \"singing our own songs\" across an entire generation of young people. It ultimately reshaped the entire Taiwanese pop music scene and laid the foundation for the flourishing Chinese pop music landscape that spanned both sides of the strait, the three regions (Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong), as well as Singapore, Malaysia, and North America from the 1980s and 1990s onward. This movement came to be known in history as the\u00a0Folk Song Movement<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

From February 14 to 16, 2025, the \"50 Years of Folk Songs\" concert was held at the Taipei Arena, with three consecutive performances. Jonathan Lee, Qi Yu, Kimbo Hu, Yang Xian, Li Jianfu, Yang Zujun, Pan Yueyun, and others all took the stage. They knew that without the Folk Song Movement back then, there would be no far-reaching Taiwanese pop music\u2014nor themselves as artists. Whenever something has a beginning, it will be continuously marked by time. That is how folk songs are. How many people still remember the \"Modern Folk Song Composition Concert\" launched 50 years ago by Yang Xian, the father of Taiwanese folk songs, and the people and events that followed? Half a century has passed since that summer of 1975. In Yiwu City\uff0cZhejiang Province, there are no top-notch internet celebrities, but because of the \"9.9 yuan, free postage\" quotation model, it has attracted countless grassroots and bottom layers for a while, and it is also known as \"a paradise for grassroots counterattacks\". Not only take you to the source of product, but also to bring you into the spiritual world the Chinese little people \u2014\u2014Brother Yuantou. A coming-of-age story about three Uyghur boys.\u3000 Three Uyghur children in a bilingual school in Xinjiang are contemplating giving up school, or their beloved soccer, for their respective reasons. One seel recognition by his peers through proving his skills in soccer; another calls himself a straight-A student, but is falling behind class due to his language level and is thus considering dropping out and return home to help with his parents\u2019 lamb business. But he struggles to make that decision because of his love for soccer; the other is considering giving up soccer because his grandmother is against it. He is an orphan, and was raised by his grandfather, who passed when he was 12. He had since been living in pain, and struggles to find solace. As their childhood is drawing to a close, the three of them in turn set off on their last soccer journey: to attend Soccer Challenge Cup for Uyghur Adolescent. They hail \u201cWurra! Wurra!\u201d before each game. The phrase means marching forward in glory. Ju Anqi, the director of the documentary \"Lou\", believes that the architectural philosopher Louis Kahn has already explained it well: \"The value of architecture lies in its ability to become a tool for social progress. Architecture is closely connected with society and people. In the evolution of time and ideology The generated spirituality is architectural heritage. Protecting and exerting the power of cultural heritage is not only a respect for the achievements of human civilization, but more importantly, the defense of our homeland.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

Director Ju Anqi spent three years on his own to search and discover the current revitalization status of China's architectural heritage. In the film \"The Building\", he went to the architectural heritage sites in China's metropolises to record the past and present of these architectural heritages and conduct interviews.
